Body scrub or exfoliation?
The epidermis renews itself in 1 month. Dead cells are found on the surface of the skin, and are generally eliminated by sweat and sebum: this natural phenomenon is called desquamation. When dead cells accumulate on its surface, the skin loses its beauty and radiance.
Doing a body scrub helps eliminate dead cells as well as impurities embedded on the surface of the skin.
Thus purified, the oxygenation of the skin is promoted, micro-circulation stimulated, and cell renewal reactivated . The skin is strengthened, regains its radiance, and will be very receptive to treatments such as a nourishing and moisturizing cream or oil: the active ingredients will be better absorbed.
In addition, the formation of ingrown hairs is limited.
And let's not forget that one of the major benefits of exfoliation is to make the skin softer!
Body scrub or exfoliation: should you choose?
Exfoliation is a mechanical exfoliation, or “scrub”. It is made possible by massaging the skin with a preparation containing grains which will act by abrasion. Its main benefits will be the softness and homogeneity of the skin.
Chemical exfoliation requires no massage! A cream, a gel, is applied to the skin, which contains exfoliating active ingredients: these will dissolve the substances which “stick” dead cells to the surface of the skin. There are different types of pro-desquamant active ingredients including fruit acids (AHA: Alpha Hydroxy Acid). Their “peeling” effect is particularly interesting on cell renewal, and will smooth the skin and fade pigmentation spots.
So no need to choose: the combination of these 2 techniques will no longer be effective for a tenfold result.
At what pace?
It is recommended to exfoliate once a week maximum. But depending on the skin type, it is possible to increase this frequency, on one condition: listen to your skin!
“ The Triple Action Body Scrub ” from Laboratoires du Cap-Ferret in 3 points:
- Apricot kernel and oyster shell powders for mechanical exfoliation. Note: oyster shell powder is extremely rich in mineral salts and trace elements, including copper and zinc which are excellent healing agents. Which makes perfect sense for a scrub that acts by abrasion!
- 5 Fruit Acids for peeling
- 5 vegetable oils to leave the skin perfectly purified after rinsing
How to proceed ?
Massage gently so as not to excessively attack the skin. Practice in circular and regular movements. You can nevertheless emphasize the elbows, knees and heels.
Then leave for ten minutes to allow the fruit acids to act.
Rinse with lukewarm water to remove powders and fruit acids: a milky emulsion is formed and the skin then remains perfectly hydrated thanks to the 5 highly selected vegetable oils.
